Countless smartphones seized in arrests and searches by police forces across the United States are being auctioned online without first having the data on them erased, a practice that can lead to crime victims being re-victimized, a new study found. In response, the largest online marketplace for items seized in U.S. law enforcement investigations says it now ensures that all phones sold through its platform will be data-wiped prior to auction.

Recently a neighbour looked at one of my bikes and said "you must have lots of money".

He owns a soft-top Audi and a new city van which he's just bought.

It's amazing how people can erase/ignore the cost of motor vehicles from their minds. It's a really impressive trick. You hear the same when people comment about cargo bikes which could actually replace a car!

Was mir in letzter Zeit leider öfters in real life begegnet, ist das Nichterkennen, dass solche Themen (Drag Queens im Kindergarten, trans Frauen in der Frauentoilette) nur deshalb Themen sind, weil sie uns von Rechten aufgezwungen werden.
"Ja, aber hier haben sie ja vielleicht mal recht."
Nein. Haben sie eben nicht mit ihren überkonstruierten Beispielen und den darauf aufgebauten Ängsten.
Und die Quelle dieser Debatte spielt sehr wohl eine Rolle. Das sind Wahlkampfthemen von rechts.

tagesschau und so, gut und schön, aber der springende, viel wichtigere punkt ist doch, und da sind wir uns alle einig:

Brauche mal externes Feedback. Bei uns steht ein 10 Jahre alter Rhododendron, der ist so ca. 1,50 hoch, Durchmesser ähnlich.
Es gibt jetzt zwei Meinungen.

1. Rausreißen und was Insektenfreundliches pflanzen. Der wird zu groß und da wächst dann nix anderes mehr.

2. Jedes Grün zählt im Sinne des Klimaschutzes. Lieber einen Platz für zusätzliche Pflanzung suchen, wenn man was für Insekten tun will.

Google has just updated its 2FA Authenticator app and added a much-needed feature: the ability to sync secrets across devices.

TL;DR: Don't turn it on.

The new update allows users to sign in with their Google Account and sync 2FA secrets across their iOS and Android devices.

We analyzed the network traffic when the app syncs the secrets, and it turns out the traffic is not end-to-end encrypted. As shown in the screenshots, this means that Google can see the secrets, likely even while they’re stored on their servers. There is no option to add a passphrase to protect the secrets, to make them accessible only by the user.

Why is this bad?

Every 2FA QR code contains a secret, or a seed, that’s used to generate the one-time codes. If someone else knows the secret, they can generate the same one-time codes and defeat 2FA protections. So, if there’s ever a data breach or if someone obtains access .... 🧵
